It's almost time to plant summer annuals

May is finally here!

Remember that even though temperatures are on the rise, it is still a little too early to plant annual flowers such as impatiens, petunias and begonias.

The rule of thumb is to wait until May 15 when the threat of frost is behind us.

Have fun enjoying the warmer weather and preparing your yard for pretty flowers.

With the milder weather comes creepy and crawly ticks.

Be sure to check yourself and your pets after spending time outdoors. Wearing light clothing will help to identify the critters, too.

Sunday, May 12, is Mother's Day.

More than a week remains to get that special lady a gift of flowers, dinner, candy, jewelry or a card.

Remember to thank all mothers, grandmothers, godmothers, aunts and all mother figures in your life.

Happy Mother's Day!
