Outdoor worship service at Egypt park is planned

The congregation of Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church will hold its 10:15 a.m. worship service at the Egypt Memorial Park Sunday, July 28.

This special service, followed by a congregational picnic at noon, is an annual event. Attendees are asked to bring lawn chairs and a covered dish to share, along with plates, utensils and cold drinks. The church will provide hot dogs and coffee.

There will be no 8 a.m. worship service on that day.

Congratulations to the following Shepherd of the Hills youth, who were confirmed at the May 19 Feast of Pentecost service: Troy Belzecky, Tyler Gaspar, Katherine Haberern, Joshua Hill, Jarrod Miller, Nathaniel Myers and Corey Sterner.

The Laurel Fire Company will host its sixth annual block party 2-10 p.m. Aug. 17.

Spots are open for crafters and vendors. Setup begins at 10:30 a.m. Vendors are asked to bring their own tables. No electricity is provided. A tent or canopy is suggested.

This year, the fire company will put together a brochure complete with a vendor map and advertisements. Coupons, business cards, or other material can also be placed in the brochure.
