Church to host spaghetti dinner

Egypt Community Church, 4129 South Church St., will be hosting a spaghetti dinner and Chinese auction 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Saturday, April 12. The cost of the meal will include beverages and dessert. There is a discount for seniors (60+). Tickets can be purchased at the door. Takeout orders will also be available. Proceeds from this fundraising dinner will benefit the church's many missions. The Laurel Fire Company is beginning to plan for its Aug. 16 block party, being held 2 to 10 p.m. at 5114 Third St., Cementon. Mark your calendars: the Egypt Memorial Park Festival Third Annual Curt Simmons Day will be held May 31.

The day begins 10 a.m. with a parade down Main Street in Egypt, then three bands will perform live music until 10 p.m. at the park.

Great food will be provided again by Geakers Tacos, including funnel cake, fries, roasted corn on the cob, pierogies and burgers.


The Cement Belt Fair committee has begun making arrangements for bookings and shows.

The fair will be held June 23-28 and will feature an enlarged vendor area.
