Whitehall Township Public Library: Tickets for Oct. 30 basket raffle are on sale now at library

Wednesday, October 11, 2017 by The Press in Columns

Tickets for the annual basket raffle are now on sale at the front desk. All we need are your name and phone number on the large stub.

The baskets will be on display by the large front windows from 9:30 a.m. Oct. 16 until noon Oct. 30. So far, we have eight baskets, and these items have already been donated: IronPigs items, a grill basket, dog basket, Lafayette Ambassador Bank items, a read and relax basket, fall basket, read to me basket and an ice cream basket. We are going to have between 90 and 100 baskets or items up for raffle.

Our third Monday open mic and jam night, set for 6:30 p.m. Oct. 16, will have special guest “Timoteo.”

Entertainers interested in performing three songs or a 15-minute set are asked to sign up just before 6:30 p.m. Musicians, singers, poets, comedians, actors, writers, storytellers, etc., are invited to show off your stuff. We also welcome you to just come and be part of the audience!

At 6 p.m. Oct. 17, join us for our third Tuesday movie night. “Guardians of the Galaxy 2” will be shown. Come to the library to watch a movie!

Check our website or fliers at the circulation desk for more information.

Library director Patty Vahey will present the basics of “How to Sell on eBay” 6-8 p.m. Oct. 19. She will show us how to list your items, ship them and get paid. She has been a power seller on eBay since 2003. While you cannot learn all of eBay in two hours, it is a good start.

It is not too late to donate to our fundraiser letter. You can see a copy of it at the front circulation desk or print it from our website. Thank you to all who have donated so far.

Once a year, we do a fundraiser letter to help us with the children and adult programming we do at the library. Donations can be made with check, PayPal or credit card while in the library.

Notice to patrons: The library will be closed Oct. 20 for a staff development day. No items are due that day, and the outside drop box is always open. We will reopen 9:30 a.m. Oct. 21.

Our fourth Tuesday adult coloring club will meet 11 a.m. Oct. 24. Anyone 18 and older is welcome to join us. The library has some supplies but invites you to bring your own as well.

***

Our What Are You Reading Now? book club will meet 1 p.m. Oct. 24. Patrons are invited to chat about whatever books they are reading at the moment — the ones you loved, the ones you hated and everything in between. We always have a lively discussion about all types of books.
