Whitehall library: Card-making event is Feb. 7
Mark your calendar for Feb. 7. We will have a valentine card-making session 6-8 p.m. in the reference area.
We will be making Valentine’s Day cards to take to Fellowship Community and other senior centers. We are asking kids and adults both to stop by and create cards. We have all of the necessary supplies.
If anyone would like to donate cards, please drop them off at the library.
Reminder: Join us on the first Tuesday of every month for Creation Station Club. This is open to kids of all ages. The program is 6:30-7:30 p.m. We will meet Feb. 6, March 6 and April 2.
Construction play teaches children to problem-solve, connect socially, understand and be inquisitive in their play. Play with no specific set purpose or limitations allows children to use the full force of their imaginations. Also, building something gives children immense satisfaction and a feeling of accomplishment, which is great for their confidence and sense of independence.
We have a new program for children called Simply Play, held 1 p.m. Wednesdays. We will meet Feb. 7, 14, 21 and 28.
The program is learning through playtime and the new creative toys that we received with a grant. Legos and other items are available, and stories will be read, too.
Do you want an easy way to help someone in need? This year, Lehigh Valley Business Group is running a sock drive with the goal of collecting and distributing 5,000 or more pairs of socks to the people who need them. The Whitehall Township Public Library will be acting as one of the collection centers. Bring in clean, new socks of any size, style or color.
Plan ahead for March. Introduction to Genealogy will be taught 6-8 p.m. March 22 and 10 a.m.-noon March 24. Let us help you get started digging up your roots.
Library director Patty Vahey will show you how to use our Ancestry and Heritage Quest databases to search for records and documents.
You still have time to sign up for the adult winter reading program. Our theme this year is “Book Your Winter Getaway!”
Sign up before March 15 either online or at the front desk. This is open to anyone 18 years old and older. All you need to do is write down the author and title of each book you read or listen to and turn in the log by 5 p.m. March 15.
The wrap-up party will be March 27, 1-2 p.m. and 6-7 p.m. There is an additional reading challenge that you may complete to be entered to win an additional prize. You must complete the challenge and return it by 5 p.m. March 15.
Call the library at 610-432-4339 for more information on any of our programs. We have the newsletter and calendar on our website, whitehallpl.org, and also copies at the front circulation desk.
