Fullerton American Legion life member

Paul “Augie” L. Hirschel, 92, of Whitehall, died March 28, 2018. He was the husband of Pearl E. P. (Coombs) Hirschel for 69 years.

Born in Fullerton, he was a son of the late Paul A. and Lillian (Crabtree) Hirschel.

He was a 1943 graduate of Whitehall High School.

He was a sonar man aboard the USS Pert in the U.S. Coast Guard during World War II.

He was retired from his position as a supervisor at the Mack Trucks 5C plant. Earlier in life, he was a salesman for PPG.

He was a life member of Fullerton American Legion Post 367 and of the Fullerton No. 1 and West Catasauqua fire companies.

He was a Mason and was a past master in 1974 of Porter Lodge 284 F&AM, Catasauqua. He was a member of Catasauqua Royal Arch Chapter 278, Allen Council 23 and Allen Commandery 20 Knights Templar.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Cynthia Hirschel and her husband Arthur Bush of Whitehall and his family; a granddaughter Erica Ford with Kevin Lewis of Northampton and her children Lucas and Micaela Tovar; a grandson, Mitchell and his wife Tiffany Koenig of Womelsdorf and their children Madison, Logan and Julian; nieces, nephews; and extended family.

He was predeceased by a son, Paul M.
