Continenza earns extension award
Denise Continenza, of Whitehall, was presented with the Director’s Award for Collaboration and Partnership during the recent extension annual conference in State College. This award recognizes an individual who has built strong partnerships or collaborations to advance the extension’s strategic goals during the past year.
Continenza is an extension educator in the program area of food, families and health with Penn State Extension in Lehigh and Northampton counties. In that role, she delivers research-based, nonformal educational programs on topics related to children, youth and families.
She also serves as the coordinator for the Whitehall-Coplay Communities That Care (CTC), a framework for preventing problem youth behaviors and building community strengths.
The extension award recognized Continenza’s efforts in forming and sustaining the local CTC, which began in 2011.
She holds a B.A. in sociology from East Stroudsburg University and an M.Ed. in youth and family education from Penn State University.
