Robert “Bobby” A. Gilbert, 83, longtime resident of Macungie, died Jan. 30, 2019, at Lehigh Valley Hospital-Salisbury. He was the husband of Dorothea M. (Helfrich) Gilbert for 54 years.

Born in Allentown, he was the son of the late Ray G. and Eva F.A. (Roth) Gilbert.

He was a 1955 graduate of Emmaus High School.

He honorably served his country in the U.S. Army.

He worked for Mack Trucks for over 33 years until retiring.

He was a member of Solomon’s United Church of Christ, Macungie.

He was a member of Emmaus Lodge 792 F&AM, Lehigh Consistory and was a 50-year member of Allen-Beauceant Commandery No. 20, Knights Templar.

He was a life member of Emmaus Fire Company No. 2 and Macungie Fire Company No. 1. He enjoyed his memberships in Wescosville Fire Company and Mystic Chain Park Association.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Amy L. and her husband Dennis Flynn; two grandchildren, Riley and Jacob; a sister-in-law, Jean L.; a brother-in-law, Harold “Sonny” Helfrich and his wife Mary; nieces; nephews; and extended family.

He was predeceased by a son, Troy A.; a sister, Betty J. and her husband William Hagenbuch; and two brothers, Ray and Richard and his wife Betty.

Services will be 3 p.m. Feb. 8 at the funeral home, 8926 Brookdale Road, Breinigsville. A viewing will be 1:30 p.m. with Masonic services offered 2:45 p.m.
