Fighting Hunger: Represent the Whitehall-Coplay Hunger Initiative at parade
Please help support Coplay Borough’s 150th celebration by walking with us in the anniversary parade. We are sure to have a great time!
The parade starts 1 p.m. May 18 at Ninth and Chestnut streets, moves down Chestnut to Second Street and turns on to Hokendauqua Street. It will end near the Coplay Saengerbund. The total walk is less than a mile.
Representing the Whitehall-Coplay Hunger Initiative’s summer breakfast camp and free community meals, we will be showcasing our summer breakfast banner and will have our small community meal signs. The Redeemed Christian Church of God, 5 N. Third St., graciously hosts our summer breakfast camp in Coplay. And Commitment to Family & Community, St. Peter Roman Catholic Church and Redeemed Christian Church of God all provide free community meals.
Please let me know if you can come to the parade so I can keep a list. Bring your family and friends. We really would like a great showing and will meet around 12:30 p.m. at Ninth and Chestnut streets.
Our summer breakfast camp starts June 17 and runs 8:30-10:30 a.m. Monday through Friday until Aug. 23. We feed the children, do reading, make an array of arts and crafts and have special visitors talk with the children.
We are in need of volunteers to help 8-11 a.m. at our Coplay site. You can come once, pick one day a week or all summer — whatever your schedule allows. For more information and to schedule your time, contact Patricia Karo at 610-417-1579.
We also have a second summer breakfast camp location at St. John’s Lutheran Church, 835 Third St., Fullerton. Contact Lana Snyder at 610-533-1357.
