Coplay: Coplay food bank seeking donations

Coplay Recreation & Welfare Association’s food bank has a dwindling supply of food staples on its shelves with schools back in session.

The food bank is asking for donations of boxed cereal, peanut butter, jelly, macaroni and cheese, fruit cups, canned pasta and spaghetti sauce.

The pantry in the basement of borough hall, 98 S. Fourth St., will be open 8:30-10 a.m. Nov. 12.

The food bank is open to borough residents with proof of residency.

With Thanksgiving approaching, St. John’s Lutheran Church, 18 S. Third St., is having a homemade potato filling sale. The deadline for orders is Nov. 18.

Pickup for the potato filling is scheduled for 2-4 p.m. Nov. 23 or before or after the 10:30 a.m. worship service Nov. 24.

Coplay Public Library, 49 S. Fifth St., is raffling off a Penn State canvas lounge chair.

The drawing is planned for 4 p.m. Nov. 16.

The deadline for putting out yard waste for pickup by borough crews is Nov. 15.
