Coplay Sports plans annual Christmas parade for Dec. 15

Wednesday, December 11, 2019 by AL RECKER Special to The Press in Local News

Every year, with the support from Coplay Borough officials, Coplay Sports sponsors the annual Christmas parade. This year’s event is scheduled for Dec. 15, starting 10:30 a.m.

The parade runs through the borough starting at Front and Hokendauqua streets and traveling through to the Echo Manor and Parkway West neighborhoods.

Coplay Fire Department will lead the parade as it winds across the town. Santa and Mrs. Claus will be aboard a sleigh.

Coplay residents are invited to drop off presents for Santa and the Coplay Sports elves to deliver to eager recipients during the parade.

The gift drop-off dates are 6-8 p.m. Dec. 13 and 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Dec. 14 at the Coplay Sports field house, 666 Potter Terrace. Gifts should be able to fit into a regular size grocery bag.

Santa will call out the names of the children whose parents or guardians dropped off a gift for delivery.

The rain dates for the parade are Dec. 21 or 22.

Many of the families involved in the sports program volunteer to participate in the parade.

The parade has been a fixture in the borough for more than 40 years.
