Whitehall Township Public Library: Open mic night set for Feb. 17
The third Monday open mic and jam will be held 6:30 p.m. Feb. 17.
Entertainers interested in performing three songs or a 15-minute set are asked to sign up starting 6:15 p.m. Musicians, singers, poets, comedians, actors, writers and storytellers are invited to come show off your stuff, or just come and be part of the audience!
The library will be hosting a family movie night 6 p.m. Feb. 18 featuring “The Addams Family,” released in 2019.
In this film, the Addams family moves to a bland suburb where Wednesday’s friendship with the daughter of a hostile and conformist local reality show host exacerbates conflict between the families.
The film is rated PG for macabre and suggestive humor and some action.
The adult winter reading program continues until Feb. 22. The theme this year is “Books Grow in the Snow.”
Any adult 18 years and older may sign up at the front desk or online.
To participate, register with your name and phone number, pick up a reading log, list your authors and titles and submit the reading log by Feb 22.
There will be an additional reading challenge attached to the log for anyone who wants to participate.
The wrap-up party will be held 1 p.m. and 6 p.m. Feb. 25. There will be prizes for anyone who reads at least one book.
The What Are You Reading Now? book club meets 1-2 p.m. on the fourth Tuesday of each month.
Upcoming dates are Feb. 25, March 24 and April 28.
Patrons are invited to chat about whatever books they are reading at the moment — the ones you loved, the ones you hated and everything in between.
Our spring wish list is available at the front desk. We are asking for rubber bands, colored printer paper, bird seed, colored duct tape, washable black markers and gift cards from any of the local stores, including Redner’s Warehouse Markets, Giant Food Store and Walmart.
The Intro to Genealogy program will be held 9:30-11:30 a.m. March 21 and 6:30-8 p.m. March 26. Let us help you figure out where your family came from. We’ll show you how to use our Ancestry and Heritage Quest databases and other resources to search for records and documents.
You may attend one or both sessions. If you cannot attend, handouts will be available at the desk.
With your new purple library card, you have access to many databases and resources, so stop by and get yours today. All you need to get a card is proof of address.
The library has many databases on a variety of subjects. You can find them on our website and use them for fun and education.
You can use all but two (ABC Mouse & Ancestry) at home as long as you have a valid purple library card number and PIN. Stop by the front desk, and we can help you.
Call the library at 610-432-4339 for more information on any of our programs. We have the newsletter and calendar on our website, whitehallpl.org, and copies at the front circulation desk.
