Coplay buys new police vehicle

Wednesday, February 19, 2020 by PAUL CMIL Special to The Press in Local News

In a quick meeting Feb. 11, Coplay Borough Council approved the purchase of a Ford F150 for use as a police vehicle. The cost of the $60,000-plus vehicle was reduced by $16,000 — the amount available in the capital budget for police vehicles.

Council approved hiring Christopher Hechler as a sanitation laborer. This is a full-time position.

Council finalized Ordinance 841 that updated the property maintenance code from the existing version to the latest release in 2018. National codes like the property maintenance code are typically reviewed for minor changes every three to five years.

Council agreed to waive a pavilion rental fee for Pediatric Cancer Foundation of the Lehigh Valley. The organization supports families that have children with cancer. A benefit run/walk, beginning at Saylor Park, is planned for April 18.

Council will plant a tree in the park to honor all those who lost their lives to this disease.

Council adjourned to executive session to discuss personnel and litigation matters.
