Spring has arrived in Stiles

The temperatures have been on the rise lately.

We may safely be able to say that spring has finally sprung in Stiles!

As a result of the milder temperatures, the Ironton Rail Trail has been seeing a lot of pedestrian and bike traffic. Hopefully, the harsh cold and windy days of winter are behind us.

Whatever you decide to do in the more seasonal spring weather, enjoy yourself.

April 15 is tax day and its just around the corner.

If you still have work to do on your taxes, there is time left. However, you should get started soon.

Next month all eyes are on groundhog

We have almost made it through the month of January and we are about one third of the way through winter.

Stay tuned for Feb. 2, when we find out Punxatawney Phil's prediction regarding an early spring or six more weeks of winter.

Although we have been fairly lucky with low amounts of snowfall thus far, surely many folks will hope Phil does not see his shadow so we have hope of an early spring.

Super Bowl parties are in the process of being planned. The big game, Super Bowl XLVII, will take place in New Orleans, La., on Sunday, Feb. 3.

Include charity in holiday prep

As the month of December progresses, the countdown to the Christmas holiday continues.

About 10 days are left to prepare.

Also, this is a great time of year to remember those who do not have as much as we do and could use some help this season.

Donating to the local food bank is a great way to share the holiday spirit with others. Supporting one of your favorite charities is also a welcomed and appreciated gesture this time of year.

Knowing you have helped your fellow man also gives you a wonderful warm feeling in your heart.

Be safe this holiday season

As quickly as we clean up the Thanksgiving dishes and leftovers, we begin to put up the holiday decorations.

Be careful if you plan to climb up on the roof or the ladder to deck the halls.

The Stiles neighborhood is beginning to look merry and bright as neighbors start the decorating process. Thank you to all the neighbors who have made the community look happy and festive.
