Jay V. Anthony Sr., 57, of Coplay, died July 25, 2019. He was the husband of Brenda Anthony.

Born in Allentown, he was a son of the late Harold and Gloria (Koehler) Anthony.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Christina and her husband John Kwiatkowski and Jayne and her husband Christopher Sorrentino; a son, Jay Jr.; six grandchildren, Madelyn, Joseph, Michael, Lindsay, Alex and Kaitlyn; a brother, Harold Jr. and his wife Tammy; and three sisters, Linda Mauer, Sandra Schuler and Judith and her husband Gary Seagreaves.

of Center Valley

Richard P. Dorney, 88, of Center Valley, died July 28, 2019, in Lehigh Valley Hospital’s inpatient hospice unit, Allentown. He was the husband of Eunice M. (McKee) Dorney for 48 years.

Born in Cetronia, he was a son of the late Warren P. and Mabel (Stauffer) Dorney.

He served in the U.S. Army National Guard. In August 1950, he was ordered into active duty and was deployed to Korea. He achieved the rank of Sgt. 1st Class and was awarded the Korean Service Medal and the United Nations Service Medal for his service.

Coplay: Church picnic is set for Aug. 4

St. Peter Roman Catholic Church will have its homecoming picnic noon-10 p.m. Aug. 4 on the church grounds, 4 S. Fifth St.

Families from nearby neighborhoods and even across the country renew bonds at the picnic, which has tradition going back decades.

The event begins with the 10:30 a.m. polka Mass celebrated by Monsignor John Martin and the Emil Schanta Band in the church choir loft.

There will be food, including pierogies, halushki, clam chowder, burgers, pizza and more.

JULY 21

Police are investigating a hit and run in the unit block of South Front Street.

Officers responded to a harassment by communication report in the unit block of North Sixth Street.

An unwanted person in the unit block of North Sixth Street was reported.

The department assisted Whitehall police in attempting to locate a male in the 1400 block of Main Street.

JULY 22

A road hazard in the area of South 12th Street and Tapler Drive was addressed.
