Janet Anne Caverly, 62, of Allentown, died Feb. 10, 2013, in the Lehigh Valley Hospital-Salisbury Township.

Born in Mineola, N.Y., she was a daughter of the late Edward Foley and Margaret (Gough) Pickhardt.

She earned a nursing degree.

She worked for 26 years at the Lehigh Valley Hospital and Health Network as an operating room scheduling manager.

She was of the Catholic faith.

She is survived by a daughter, Jenny A. and her husband Jeffrey D. Kindt of Whitehall; and son, Wade E. and his wife Robin A. (Kostecky) of Catasauqua.

Robert "Spots" G.A. Schoenerberger Jr., 76, of Catasauqua, died Feb. 11, 2013, at Lehigh Valley Hospital Center, Salisbury Township. He was the husband of Anna I. (O'Hawk) Schoenerberger for 54 years.

Born in West Catasauqua, he was a son of the late Robert G. A. and Laura (Kuhns) Schoenerberger Sr.

He worked at Cross Country Clothes until retiring in 1996.

The dangers of sexting: 'Is it really worth it?'

Salisbury High School presented an assembly recently on the dangers of sexting – this seminar was offered by District Attorney Jim Martin's office for school districts in the Lehigh Valley.

Sexting is described as taking a nude picture of yourself or someone else with cellphone cameras and texting it to others or posting nude photos of yourself on social media such as Facebook or MySpace.

Willard D. Schuler, 77, of Fountain Hill, died at his home in Whitehall. He was the husband of the late Donna J. Schuler.

He was a son of Edward and Myrtle Schuler.

He was in the U.S. Army.

He recently retired from building maintenance at the Private Industry Council (PIC), Allentown.

He is survived by a daughter, Jacqueline; three sons, Jonathan and his wife Cynthia, Barry, Willard with wife Amanda; and two grandsons, Kevin Doddy Jr. and Zachary Schuler. He had three brothers, Edward, John and Barry.

Zephs Rex among football scholar athletes nominees

Butz Corporate Center gets first Allentown zone loan

The Allentown Neighborhood Improvement Zone Development Authority (ANIZDA) recently approved a loan to EPC Allentown, LLC, founded by the Butz Family and owner of the Butz Corporate Center.

The $10-million loan through National Penn Bank is the first private development loan that closed through ANIZDA.

"This transaction signifies the positive momentum in the revitalization effort of the city," said Greg Butz, President and CEO, Alvin H. Butz, Inc.

Photos, poetry about homeless

The Lehigh County Conference of Churches (LCCC) presents "People Without Homes," a photography and poetry exhibit and community discussion, 5 p.m. Feb. 27, Tower Auditorium, Sacred Heart Hospital, 421 Chew St., Allentown.

"People Without Homes" is the recent sabbatical project of LCCC Executive Director Rev. Dr. Christine L. Nelson.

The exhibit is free and open to the public. Free parking is available.

A discussion on chronic homelessness begins at 6 p.m. Feb. 27.

Submit poems for Focus

Submissions are now being accepted for the eighth annual award-winning Student Poetry Project.

In celebration of National Poetry Month in April, three poems will be selected in each of the Elementary, Middle School and High School categories and published in the April 24 and 25 Focus section in the Lehigh Valley Press newspapers.

The student whose poem is selected as the best poem in each category may have his or her photo published with the selected poem.
