An opening reception and artist talk for "Transformations: Works in Steel," an exhibit of works by sculptor Karl Stirner is 6:30 - 8:30 p.m. Feb. 21, The Payne Gallery, Priscilla Payne Hurd Campus, Moravian College, Bethlehem, where the exhibition continues through April 7.
The event is free and open to the public.
"The exhibition will feature Stirner's collection of large to medium-sized steel sculpture and nearly a dozen drawings," said David Leidich, Assistant Director of Payne Gallery.
Submissions are now being accepted for the eighth annual award-winning Student Poetry Project.
In celebration of National Poetry Month in April, three poems will be selected in each of the Elementary, Middle School and High School categories and published in the April 24 and 25 Focus section in the Lehigh Valley Press newspapers.
The student whose poem is selected as the best poem in each category may have his or her photo published with the selected poem.

Despite what many people think, African violets are very easy to care for. The plants can tell you what they need if you watch for their signs.
Bright green foliage, but no flowers, is an indication that the plant needs more light. On the other hand, if the foliage is pale green and yellowing, and you know that you have been fertilizing and watering properly, this is a sign that the plant is receiving too much light.

Priscilla Payne Hurd, who died Feb. 5 at the age of 93, was the first woman to chair the Moravian College Board of Trustees (1999 - '07) and was a board member since 1974.
Mrs. Hurd was a well-known and revered figure on the Moravian campus. Whether interacting with students or conferring with fellow trustees, she exemplified the credo she wrote more than four decades ago: "No one is greater than the service he renders the world."
Lamin Sanneh, the D. Willis James Professor of Missions and World Christianity and professor of history at Yale University Divinity School, will speak at 7:30 p.m. Feb. 21, Room 104, Kirby Hall of Civil Rights, Lafayette College, Easton.
Sanneh is regarded as one of the world's foremost experts on the growth and spread of Christianity in the 20th and 21st centuries.

Penn State Lehigh Valley celebrated the installation of the Alpha Zeta Pi chapter of Kappa Delta Pi, international honor society in education, during a ceremony at Iron Lakes Country Club, 3625 Shankweiler Road, North Whitehall Township.
It's the first education honor society to be established at the campus and only the third Kappa Delta Pi chapter in The Pennsylvania State University system.
More than 150 friends and family members attended the Dec. 2 event during which 28 students and seven faculty members were initiated.
