Fullerton column: AARP to meet Sept. 13, get flu shots

AARP Chapter 3115 will meet at noon on Thursday, Sept. 13, at the American Club, 300 Cherry St. in Coplay.

After the social hour and refreshments, musician Shep will entertain the group.

Flu shots also will be given. New members are always welcome.

The Woman's Club of Whitehall Township will hold its first meeting of the season Monday, Sept. 10, at 7 p.m. at Faith Lutheran Church, MacArthur Road.

Entertainment will be provided by Ellie Laub-ner, Crinoline to Crinoline.

Sunday school resumes Sept. 9

At Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church, Egypt, Sunday school classes will resume at 8:50 a.m. Sept. 9.

Classes are available for all ages. Fellowship hour will also resume after a summer hiatus, beginning Sept. 9, after the 10:15 a.m. worship service.

Fourteen youth and two adults from Shepherd of the Hills recently went on a trip to New Orleans where they helped a neighborhood which continues to recover from the damage done by Hurricane Katrina in 2005.

Fullerton column: St. John's to hold concert Sept. 8

St. John's United Church of Christ, 575 Grape St., will hold a wandering singers concert Saturday, Sept. 8 at 7 p.m.

This cappella group offers Renaissance music, folk songs and newly composed works.

Stiles column: St. John's to hold picnic Sept. 2

St. John the Baptist Church in Stiles will hold its annual church picnic Sunday, Sept. 2, from noon-9 p.m. on the church grounds, located at Ruch and Chestnut streets.

This is always a fun summer celebration allowing participants the opportunity to interact with friends and acquaintances from the community.

Indulge in delicious food fare and play some games. There will be live musical entertainment provided as well. Bring your lawn chairs to ensure a comfortable seat.
