Coplay Public Library’s board meets 7 p.m. this evening, Dec. 10, in council chambers at the municipal building. The public is invited.
On Dec. 13, Coplay Sports Inc. will hold its annual Christmas parade. A caravan will ride on every street throughout the borough. There will be clowns and elves in costume. The borough’s fire truck and police patrol car will lead the parade.
Santa, along with Mrs. Claus, will be on a sleigh as yuletide music will announce their arrival on your street.
A bingo will be held 1 p.m. Dec. 13 at Annunciation B.V.M. Church, St. Mary’s Parish Center, Second and Union streets. The kitchen will be open 11:30 a.m. for sit-in or take-out.

Whitehall Township Public Library will hold a movie night 6:15 p.m. Dec. 15. The featured movie is “The Seventh Dwarf.” Stop in with the kids and enjoy a fun and entertaining evening.

Whitehall Township Public Library is collecting nonperishable canned/boxed food products. All items collected will be given to Whitehall Food Pantry.
The pantry is looking for items such as soup, Hamburger Helper, cereal, paper towels, toilet paper, tissues and canned pet food.
Items may be dropped off during regular library hours.
Northampton Volunteer Fire Department will be having its annual Santa Run noon Dec. 12.
Borough residents can drop off a wrapped gift (no larger than a shoe box, please) at the station, 4 Lerchenmiller Drive, 6-8 p.m. Dec. 9, 10 and 11. The gift must have the child’s name, address and phone number on it.
Santa, riding in a fire truck, will deliver the gift.

The Whitehall High School swim team is hosting a designer purse bingo at the pavilion of Egypt Park. The fundraiser will take place beginning 6 p.m. Dec. 5. Doors will open 4:30 p.m. Featured prizes include purses by Michael Kors, Coach and Vera Bradley.
There is a discount for tickets purchased in advance. Tickets include 20 regular games.
There will be additional special games, a Chinese auction and refreshments for purchase at the event.

Soon, a new bridge will link Coplay and Northampton. The original bridge was a wooden structure dating back to 1856. The state of Pennsylvania granted a private company the right to sell stock to finance the bridge. The charter listed 31 stockholders; the stock par value was valued at $25 a share. The total subscription totaled $10,450.
Two prominent share holders were Adam Laubach (Laubach Avenue), a successful Northampton businessman, and Edward Schreiber of Coplay, a well-known farmer.
Storytime with Miss Jo will be held 11 a.m. Dec. 3 and 10. All ages are welcome, and there is no preregistration required.
