Camp Cementon goes to the animals

Thursday, July 17, 2014 by The Press in Columns

Week two started up at Camp Cementon after the long holiday weekend came to an end. This week our theme was animals.

Many of our campers dressed up in animal prints throughout the week and on Friday they went all out and dressed like their favorite animals.

Bryce M. rocked an awesome dinosaur mask and Nathan sneaked in with his sly fox ears and tail. We played many animal themed games as well, such as hungry, hungry giants and ant tag.

Camp Jefferson enjoys the 70s

Thursday, July 17, 2014 by The Press in Columns

This week at Camp Jefferson the theme was the 70s.

All the kids and counselors alike had a great time this week playing games in the park and swimming at the Jefferson pool. Four-square as always is the game of choice for the kids but this week we also played handball, manhunt, dodge ball, knockout and basketball at the Jefferson Street basketball courts.

On Wednesday we did our craft which was tie dying shirts in honor of 70s week. Since our field trip was on Friday this week the kids all wore their tie dye on Thursday and to say the least it was very colorful.

Bethany Spirit Riders take to road

On May 3, the Bethany Spirit Riders drove around the Lehigh Valley, including the Borough of Catasauqua, delivering support materials to families who currently have soldiers deployed overseas.

Many of the group are veterans themselves. The organization is a faith-based motorcycle club that regularly takes group trips to great locations like Gettysburg.

The families will be given a blue star for their windows, letting others in the community know they have a family member serving overseas.
