Halloween is not too far away! Get into the spirit and take a ride though the Haunted Woods in the Whitehall Parkway.
The Whitehall Volunteer Fire Department is sponsoring its annual Haunted Woods, once again, on Friday and Saturday nights in October. Gather up some friends and have some scary fun at the Whitehall Parkway, located off Church Street.

St. Elizabeth of Hungary Church, 435 Pershing Blvd., Whitehall, will be holding a chicken and waffle supper on Saturday, Oct. 11, from 3 to 7 p.m. The event will take place in the parish hall.

St. E's will also be having its fifth annual spectacular basket social on Columbus Day weekend, Friday, Oct. 10, from 5 to 7 p.m.; Saturday, Oct. 11, from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.; and Sunday, Oct. 12, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. This also takes place in the social hall. Food will be available for purchase.
The Whitehall Township Public Library is having a Basket Silent Auction Fall Fundraiser this week and it will end at noon on Saturday, Sept. 27.
Bidding will run through noon Saturday, Sept. 27. The winner need not be present to win but must pay in cash or by check by Saturday, Oct. 4, to claim the basket or the prize reverts to the next highest bidder.
Patrons can register at the front desk and receive a bid number and a copy of the rules. Patron must be 18 years or older to participate.
The Hokendauqua Fall Festival began yesterday and continues through Saturday, Sept. 27.
Some of the activities scheduled include live music by "Dirty on Sunday" 7-10 p.m. Friday, Sept. 26, a motorcycle ride and show Saturday, Sept. 27, and free activities for kids each day.

Over 300 prizes will be offered at the Holy Trinity Catholic Church Gigantic Basket Party. The event will be held 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 27, and 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 28, at the church, 410 S. Church St., Whitehall. Winning tickets will be drawn 2 p.m. Sept. 28.
The kitchen will be serving homemade foods and baked goods. Tickets for bidding on the prizes are available at the door. Bidders do not have to be present at the drawing.
The Whitehall Township Public Library will be holding a silent auction from Wednesday, Sept. 24 until noon Saturday, Sept. 27.
Items to bid on will include themed baskets and autographed books.
Stop by and support the library and you may be the lucky bidder to take home an item.
The Whitehall High School Zephyr Varsity Football Team will host the Liberty High School Hurricanes tomorrow, with kick off slated for 7 p.m.
Come out to the game and support the Zephyrs by cheering them on to victory!

St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church, 835 Third St., will be sponsoring a special worship service, blessing of the pets.
You are invited to bring your pet (s) to Fritze Hall Saturday, Sept. 27, at 2 p.m.
Any pets on leashes or in carriers or cages will be blessed.
Served will be people snacks as well as snacks for dogs and cats. There will also be a photo session if you would like a photo of your pet or one of you with your pet. The photo will be sent to you via email and will be posted on St. John's Facebook page if allowed.
The Egypt Memorial Park will be holding sign-ups 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 13 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 17, at the park, for the newly formed Egypt Venom Step Dance Team. Check out the website at egyptpark.org for more details about this exciting youth program.
