Thelma “Sue” H. Sturdik, 79, of Walnutport, died Jan. 31, 2019, at St. Luke’s Hospital, Lehighton. She was the wife of the late Laurence Sturdik Sr.
Born in McKeansburg, she was a daughter of the late Alfred S. and Minerva E. (Moyer) Mervine.
She was a 1957 graduate of Blue Mountain High School.
She was a certified nursing assistant at Holy Family Manor, Bethlehem, until she retired in 2009. She owned and operated Sue’s Ceramic Shop, Treichlers. She was an artist known for her paintings and drawings.
Evelyn R. Marsteller, 85, of Macungie and formerly of Florida, died Jan. 30, 2019. She was the wife of the late Edwin H. Marsteller for 63 years.
Born in Allentown, she was a daughter of the late Aaron D. Sr. and Clara (Berky) Carl.
She was an Allentown High School graduate.
She was a self-employed dog groomer for many years.
She was a member of Jerusalem Western Salisbury Church.
Arlene M. Forner, 91, of Whitehall, died Jan. 10, 2019, at her residence at Fellowship Terrace. She was the wife of the late Harold J. Forner.
Born in Allentown, she was a daughter of the late Andrew and Minnie (Tatarsky) Ferenchak.
She was a 1944 graduate of Catasauqua High School.
She was a member of St. Mary’s Church of the Annunciation, Catasauqua.
She was a member of the Catasauqua Women’s Club for many years.
Harry B. Cheesbrough III, 73, died Jan. 27, 2019, in his home in Danielsville. He was the husband of Joan Cheesbrough for 27 years.
Born in Allentown, he was a son of Josephine and the late Harry B. Cheesbrough Jr.
He attended Northampton High School.
He was in the U.S. Army in Vietnam.
Eric R. DeLong, 37, of Catasauqua, died Jan. 29, 2019, in the Lehigh Valley Hospice Inpatient Unit. He was the husband of Amy L. (Antonition) DeLong of Catasauqua.
Born in Allentown, he was a son of Cheryl A. (Harrigle) and the late David C. DeLong.
He was a self-employed house painter for several years.
William Charles Herndon, of Whitehall, died Feb. 2, 2019, at Fellowship Manor. He was the husband of Joyce Herndon for 55 years.
Born in Montgomery, W.Va., he was a son of the late Cecil and Ethel (Rader) Herndon.
He graduated with honors from the West Virginia Institute of Technology, as an electrical engineer.
Frank J. Troxell Sr., 83, of Catasauqua, died Jan. 30, 2019, at Lehigh Valley Hospital-Muhlenberg. He was the husband of Patricia A. (Long) Troxell for 56 years.
Born in Shamokin, he was a son of the late Wm. Blaine and Grace E. (Evans) Troxell.
He was a 1953 graduate of Shamokin High School. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in business education from Bloomsburg State Teachers College and a Master of Education degree in educational administration from Lehigh University.
Robert “Bobby” A. Gilbert, 83, longtime resident of Macungie, died Jan. 30, 2019, at Lehigh Valley Hospital-Salisbury. He was the husband of Dorothea M. (Helfrich) Gilbert for 54 years.
Born in Allentown, he was the son of the late Ray G. and Eva F.A. (Roth) Gilbert.
He was a 1955 graduate of Emmaus High School.
He honorably served his country in the U.S. Army.
He worked for Mack Trucks for over 33 years until retiring.
He was a member of Solomon’s United Church of Christ, Macungie.
Hilda “Hildy” T. Tameler, 98, died Jan. 27, 2019, at Fellowship Manor, Whitehall.
Born in Coplay, she was a daughter of the late Samuel and Cecelia (Feiertag) Tameler.
She worked at AT&T for many years until she took retirement.
She was a longtime member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Catasauqua.
She is survived by two brothers, Samuel Tameler and Karl and his wife Gail Tameler of Colorado; nieces; nephews; great-nieces; and great-nephews.
She was predeceased by two sisters, Cecelia and Lorraine; and a brother, Johnny.
Ronald W. Reiss, 68, of Whitehall, died Feb. 4, 2019, in his home. He was the husband of Cheryl L. (Leonard) Reiss for 11 years.
Born in Allentown, he was a son of the late Willard and Betty (Moll) Reiss.
He served in the U.S. Army Reserves.
He was employed by PPL Electric for 40 years until he retired in 2009.
He was a member of Jerusalem Western Salisbury Church. He was a member of the Fullerton Fire Company.
He was a middle school softball coach at Central Catholic and coached at the Lehigh County Youth Association at Jordan Park.
