Byron A. Young, 73, from Allentown, died May 15, 2013, in Phoebe Home, Allentown.

He was the husband of the late Sandra S. (Goides) Young.

Born Dec. 17, 1939, in Allentown, he was the son of the late Theodore A. and Arlene M. (Getz) Young.

He faithfully and honorably served his country in the U.S. Air Force during a peacetime era.

He was a station mechanic and welder for PPL, Martins Creek, for 28 years before retiring in 1995.

Active in his community, he was a member of the Kilowatt Craftsman's Club and the Parkland Trojan Alumni Varsity Club.

Marie T. Seyfried, 81, of N. Catasauqua, died May 16, 2013. She was the wife of Donald (Deacon) A. Seyfried for 58 years.

She was a daughter of the late Michael S. and Mary (Stranzl) Bock.

She was a graduate of Central Catholic High School and St. Mary's Hospital School of Nursing. She earned a bachelor's degree from Cedar Crest College and a master's in education from Temple University.

Evelyn L. Wieder, 94, of Northampton, formerly of Emmaus, died May 20, 2013, surrounded by her family, in her home. She was the wife of the late Frederick C.O. Wieder who died September 18, 2000. Born in Vera Cruz, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Daisy (Ringer) Kuehn.

She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, Emmaus and was a graduate of Emmaus High School, Class of 1937.

She was employed by Rodale Manufacturing for 32 years until her retirement.

Carlton W. Weaver, 81, of Egypt, died May 15, 2013, in St. Luke's Hospice, Bethlehem. He was the husband of Doris E. (Sell) Weaver for 57 years.

Born in Egypt, he was a son of the late George T. and Erma L. (Heilman) Weaver.

He was a 1950 graduate of Whitehall High School.

He was in the U. S. Army during the Korean conflict.

He was a maintenance mechanic at Lehigh Valley Dairies and Beatrice Foods for more than 33 years. He was a sexton at the former Egypt Union Church.

Hilda C. Otter, 98, of Orefield, died May 17, 2013, in Cedarbrook Nursing Home, South Whitehall.

She was the wife of the late Norman H. Otter.

Born June 30, 1914, in Beach Haven, Luzerne County, she was the daughter of the late Floyd C. and Ruth C. (Harter) Slusser.

She was the oldest member of Morgenland Union Church, Orefield.

Helen Paul, 99, of Whitehall and formerly of Coplay, died May 18, 2013, at Lehigh Valley Hospital Center, Allentown. She was the wife of the late James E. Paul.

Born in Coplay, she was a daughter of the late Michael and Anna (Kittan) Stempak.

She worked in textiles and for department stores. She was a cafeteria worker for the Whitehall School District before she retired in 1984.

She was a member of Trinity United Church of Christ, Coplay, where she was a former quilter.

She is survived by a daughter, Kathleen A. of Bluffton, S.C.; nieces; and nephews

Tyler Bernard Smith, 32, of Northampton, died in his home May 14, 2013. He was the husband of Chanan (Cortez) Smith. They celebrated their seventh wedding anniversary this year.

Born in Allentown, he was the son of Thomas Benner and Brenda Smith.

He worked as an electrician for Edison Electric and was an apprentice and a member of IBEW 375 since 2005.

He was a Marine Corps vet who served during Operation Enduring Freedom in Kuwait.

Meryl "Tex" H. Semmel, 83, of Allentown, died May 20, 2013, at Lehigh Valley Hospice-Inpatient unit, Allentown. He was the husband of Olga P. (Pekurny) for 60 years.

Born in Mahoning Township, he was a son of the late Frank and Mary (Kidden) Semmel.

He was in the Pennsylvania National Guard.

He worked in the maintenance department of the former Tarkett Manufacturning, Whitehall, for many years until he retired in 1992.

He was a member of St. Timothy's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Allentown.

Alvin Newton Bugbee Jr., 90, of Catasauqua, died May 19, 2013. He was the husband of Monica (Hefele) Bugbee for 63 years.

Born in Trenton, N.J., he was a son of the late Alvin Newton Bugbee and Helen Horn of Catasauqua.

He was a Catasauqua High School graduate. He earned a bachelor's degree in civil engineering from Lehigh University. He was a graduate of Infantry Officer's Candidate School.
