Russell “Skip” T. Olsen Jr., 69, of Allentown, died Jan. 29, 2020, at St. Luke’s Bethlehem campus. He was the husband of Kathryn L. (Kane) Olsen.
Born in Troy, N.Y., he was a son of the late Russell T. Sr. and Marion (Ewald) Olsen.
He was in the U.S. Navy.
He was employed at Hannabery HVAC, Allentown, until his retirement in 2017.
Irene M. Ryba, 72, of Whitehall, died Jan. 22, 2020, at Lehigh Valley Hospital-Muhlenberg. She was the wife of Francis S. Ryba for 19 years.
Born in Maxatawny, she was a daughter of the late Ernest and Anna (Mertz) Reichert.
She was, for more than 30 years, an office manager for Flores Air Conditioning, Catasauqua, until she retired.
She was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church, Coplay.
She was a social member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 7293, Egypt, and American Legion Post 739, Hokendauqua.
Grace H. Strauss, 91, of Whitehall, died Jan. 27, 2020, at Lehigh Valley Hospital-Cedar Crest. She was the wife of the late Ernest K. Strauss for 66 years.
Born in Allentown, she was a daughter of the late Clarence H. and Pauline E. (Sell) Hartman.
She was a cashier at the former Food Fair, Allentown, for many years before she retired.
She was a member of Faith Evangelical Lutheran Church, Whitehall.
Yasmine Tyrea (Allen) Woodruff, 22, of Bethlehem, died Jan. 14, 2020. She was the wife of Todd Woodruff.
Born in Easton, she was a daughter of Kennyatta Sr. and Natasha Tyrea Sampson-Allen of Whitehall.
She was a 2015 graduate of Whitehall High School. She was a current student at Northampton Community College.
Theresa M. Emerick, 91, of Coplay, died Jan. 26, 2020, at Above and Beyond, Mountain View. She was the wife of the late Aloysius Emerick.
Born in Allentown, she was a daughter of the late Frank and Katie (Spaits) Nemeth.
She was a member of Queenship of Mary Catholic Church, Northampton.
She is survived by a son, James S.; two grandsons, Ryan and Matthew; a sister, Catherine Schafer; a brother, Charlie Nemeth; two sisters-in-law, Cecilia Emerick and Millie Emerick; nieces; and nephews.
Patricia Ann Roth, 79, of North Catasauqua, died Jan. 25, 2020, at Lehigh Valley Hospital-Muhlenberg.
Born in Allentown, she was a daughter of the late George and Minnie (Eberhart) Roth.
She was a secretary for the former General Acceptance Corporation and the former Allentown State Hospital until she retired.
She is survived by two nieces, Barbara Mahoney and her husband Jack and Loretta Hricak and her husband Robert; and two nephews, Jeffrey Best and his wife Dawn and Michael Schwenk.
Mary Joan Shields, 87, of Allentown and most recently of Coplay, died Jan. 20, 2020. She was the wife of the late Joseph “Bud” Shields for 48 years.
Born in Scranton, she was a daughter of the late Johanna (Andres) and Frances Butler.
She worked at Marathon Electric for 19 years. She retired from First Union Bank.
Elaine Hewko, 93, of Northampton, died Jan. 20, 2020, at Lehigh Valley Hospital-Muhlenberg. She was the wife of the late Wasyl Hewko.
Born in Northampton, she was a daughter of the late George and Margaret (Mikletz) Gereg.
She was a supervisor at Western Electric for many years. She was a model at Hess’s Department Store.
She was a member of Holy Trinity Slovak Lutheran Church, Northampton.
She was a member of the Exclusive Professional Women’s Networking Group and of the Young At Heart group.
Lester L. Lewis, 78, of Coplay, died Jan. 19, 2020, at Lehigh Valley Hospital-Muhlenberg. He was the husband of Rose Ann (Turk) Lewis for 44 years.
Born in Blossburg, he was a son of the late Charles and Charlotte Lewis.
He worked for Keystone Automotive Industries, currently known as LKQ Corporation, for more than 25 years.
Joanne L. Miller, 87, of Bath, died Jan. 25, 2020, at Bethlehem Manor. She was the wife of the late Donald Miller.
Born in Allentown, she was a daughter of the late Willard and Irene (Shelley) Stettler.
She was the proprietor of Saylors Mobile Home Park, Allentown, for many years.
She is survived by three sons, Scott and his wife Janet, Thomas and his wife Sandra and Daniel; two grandchildren, Katrina and Eric; two great-grandsons, Joshua and Zachary; and a sister, Mary Stein.
