Louis I. Miksits, 89, of Northampton, died July 8, 2019, at the inpatient hospice unit at Lehigh Valley Hospital, Allentown. He was the husband of Carol Jean (Mather) Miksits, and the late Ann Machovic Miksits.

Born in Northampton, he was a son of the late Edward and Rose (Szoke) Miksits.

He was a staff sergeant in the U.S. Air Force during the Japanese occupation and the Korean conflict.

He was a mechanic for Capital and United Airlines.

Mary C. “Kathleen” Yakich, 91, of Danielsville and formerly of Inverness, Fla., died July 8, 2019. She was the wife of the late Edward M. Yakich.

Born in Ireland, she was a daughter of the late Joseph and Mary (Madden) Collins.

She is survived by a son, Edward G. and his wife Donna of Whitehall; grandchildren; and great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by a sister, Elizabeth.

Reniea A.A. Peters, 87, of Allentown, died July 5, 2019, at Devon House, Salisbury Township. She was the wife of the late Marvin W. Peters.

Born in Walnutport, she was the daughter of the late Nevin J. Sr. and Sarah E. (Weyhenmeyer) Stahley.

A licensed practical nurse at the former Allentown State Hospital for 16 years, she retired in 1988. Before that, she was a private duty nurse.

She was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church, Allentown.

She was a sewing machine operator for various companies, including Tama Manufacturing and Halsen Products.

Joseph R. Sommer, 61, of Whitehall, died July 3, 2019, in his residence. He was the husband of Jean (Sharkazy) Sommer for 28 years.

Born in Allentown, he was a son of Joseph G. and Patricia (Betz) Sommer of Coplay.

He was a 1975 graduate of Whitehall High School. He graduated from Muhlenberg College and earned a Master of Business Administration from DeSales University.

He was a general manager for Carpenter Company, Fogelsville, for 16 years. Before that, he was a quality control manager for the former C.R. Bearing Seals Division, Bethlehem.

Jean M. Burrows, 94, of Catasauqua, died July 8, 2019, at Arden Courts, Allentown. She was the wife of the late Carl Burrows for 52 years.

Born in Catasauqua, she was a daughter of the late John A. and Blanche V. (Borowski) Klinikowski.

She earned a bachelor’s degree from Penn State University in 1946 and a Masters in Education from Lehigh University in 1965. She also attended Muhlenberg College.

She was a fourth-grade teacher for seven years and a guidance counselor for 18 years with the Catasauqua School District before retiring in 1985.

She was a member of Queenship of Mary Church, Northampton, where she was a member of the women’s guild.

She was, for many years, a cook at Northampton Hungarian Hall, 1300 Stewart St.

She is survived by a daughter, Christine Edmonds of Newtown; a son, William Joseph and his wife Andrea of Brooklyn, N.Y.; three grandchildren, Kevin Harrison, Adrienne and Eleanor; a brother, Stefan; a sister-in-law, Valeria Stalsitz; nieces; and nephews.
