Dr. Donald J. Chaputa, 83, of Allentown, died June 10, 2018, at Luther Crest personal care home, Allentown. He was the husband of Gloria I. (George) Chaputa for 59 years.

Born in Northampton, he was a son of the late Stephen and Julia (Shattuck) Chaputa.

He was a 1952 graduate of Whitehall High School. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Muhlenberg College in 1954 and a doctorate from the Pennsylvania School of Optometry, Philadelphia, in 1958.

He was a first lieutenant in the U.S. Army from 1958 to 1961.

Kim Marie Bergsman, 48, of Bath, died recently at St. Luke’s Hospital, Bethlehem.

Born in Allentown, she was a daughter of Gladys (Barry) and the late Edward “Junior” Bergsman Jr.

She was a 1988 graduate of Northampton High School.

She worked recently at Sonic Restaurant. She had been a certified nursing assistant at Gracedale, Nazareth, and at Alexandria Manor, Bath.

In addition to her mother, she is survived by a daughter, Elizabeth M. Bergsman; and a brother, Edward F. Bergsman Jr.

Services will be private.

Margaret H. Sysko, 90, of Northampton, died June 12, 2018, at Fellowship Manor, Whitehall. She was the wife of the late Charles J. Sysko.

Born in Lansford, she was a daughter of the late Marino and Margaret (Pantoni) George.

She was a machine operator for Clyde Shirt Factory until she retired in 1976.

She was a member of Queenship of Mary Church and of its Altar and Rosary Society.

She was member of Catholic War Veterans Post 454, Northampton, ladies auxiliary, of which she was a past secretary.

Amy P. Potter, 91, of Allentown, died June 2, 2018, at the inpatient hospice unit of Lehigh Valley Hospital, Allentown. She was the wife of the late Joseph A. Potter.

Born in Allentown, she was a daughter of the late Morris C. and Florence (Camburn) Clayton.

She worked at Lehigh Valley Health Network for 36 years and was the first financial counselor for any hospital in Pennsylvania.

She was a member of St. Catherine of Siena Church, Allentown.

James A. Weaver

James A. Weaver, 80, of Northampton, died June 8, 2018, at his home. He was the husband of the late Elizabeth A. (Bunsa) Weaver.

Born in Bethlehem, he was a son and one of sixteen children of the late Jacob and Ella (Hoffert) Weaver.

He worked for Whitaker Roofing and Siding, Allentown, for many years before he retired in 1999.

He is survived by a son, Jeffrey and his wife Dawn Bates of Alton, Iowa; a daughter, Judith and her husband John Skravin Jr. of Hellertown; grandchildren; and great-grandchildren.

Born in Allentown, he was a son of the late Walter and Ellen (Strunk) Grimm.

He was a machine shop operator for the Fuller Company for many years before retiring.

He is survived by two sons, Timothy and his wife Rebecca and Thomas and his wife Sharon Ferrucci; a sister, Sarah Jane Hedgecock; four grandchildren, Megan, Heather, Julia and Marisa; and two great-grandchildren, Jackson and Elli.

She was a member of St. Peter Roman Catholic Church, Coplay, and the Altar and Rosary Society.

She sang for several years with the Herald Theatrical Group.

William F. Zaun Jr., 76, of Lehigh Township, died June 4, 2018, at home. He was the husband of Til Marie (Valente) Zaun for 30 years.

Born in Bethlehem, he was a son of the late William S. and the late Mae A. (Ziegler) Zaun.

He was a 1959 graduate of Bethlehem Catholic High School, a 1963 graduate of Georgetown University and a 1966 graduate of Villanova Law School.

He was, for six years, in the U.S. Army National Guard.
