Lehigh Twp. day care owner pleads guilty in 2016 infant death

Sharon’s Day Care owner and operator Sharon Ballek, 61, has pleaded guilty to charges filed in connection with the April 1, 2016, death of a 3-month-old baby who had been entrusted to Ballek’s care. McKenna Rose Felmly died on her first day at the now-closed Lehigh Township facility, located at 4538 Third St.

Ballek entered her guilty plea before Northampton County Judge Paula Roscioli July 31. She admitted to both endangering the welfare of a child and reckless endangerment.

A juvenile who was reported missing returned to the 300 block of Bridge Street.

A home was egged in the 700 block of Poplar Street, the department said.

An abandoned vehicle on North 12th Street was tagged.

In the 100 block of Second Street, a wallet was found.

Officers are investigating a report of fraud that occurred in the 200 block of Edward Lane.

AUG. 6

Officer Buchanan and K-9 Officer Vito assisted Coplay police in the 600 block of Potter Terrace for the search of a male.

A male harassing a female in the 1200 block of Main Street was reported.

Criminal mischief in the 500 block of East 11th Street brought out police. The report said a legally parked vehicle was egged.

Borough man is apprehended after firing shots during attempted vehicle repossession

A 24-year-old Bath man was apprehended by Colonial Regional Police Department officers Monday night after allegedly firing multiple shots in the borough earlier that day.

According to police, Michael P. McGinnis Jr. was captured in Chapman after he discharged a weapon in the area of 111 Sleepy Hollow Road while his vehicle was being repossessed.
