District News: Fall sports sign-ups taking place now

Sign-ups for fall 2019 sports — football, cross-country, boys soccer, girls soccer, girls volleyball, girls tennis, field hockey, coed golf and cheerleading — are taking place now in the Whitehall High School athletic office. Students must also get the appropriate paperwork.


To avoid financial obligation, freshman, sophomore and junior students must return all library books and pay any fines by June 3.

District News: Open house at Steckel is May 23

Steckel Elementary School’s open house will take place 6 p.m. May 23. There will be a basket raffle, information tables and a PTO Plus spring book fair.


For Whitehall High School seniors, all library books must be handed in and all fines must be paid by May 24 to avoid financial obligation. For other grades, the due date is June 3.


Schools will be closed May 27 for Memorial Day. Have a safe and happy holiday!


District News: Students commit to future plans

Congratulations to Whitehall High School and Lehigh Career & Technical Institute students on their signing day May 10 at DeSales University. Five students committed to either employment or college after graduation.

The students entering the workforce who committed to employment are Talen Getchell, precision machine tool technology; and Matthew Parra, electronics tech. The students who are furthering their education in college are Jaron Crosson, print technology/graphic arts; Keanne Herrera, masonry; and Jeremy Salabsky, print technology/graphic imaging.


District News: Classes will now be held May 10

Whitehall-Coplay School District calendar changes due to snow makeup days are as follows.

May 10, which was a scheduled professional development day, will now be a school day for students.

Elementary students will be dismissed early from school June 7, 10 and 11. No lunches will be served. Dismissal will be noon.

The last day of school for students will now be June 12. Students will be dismissed 10 a.m.

Teachers will have a professional development day June 13.
