Third-graders across Pennsylvania combined oral health education and creativity in February during Pennsylvania Dental Association’s (PDA) annual poster contest in celebration of National Children’s Dental Health Month. Those who participated in PDA’s poster contest will have a chance at winning several different prizes.
Woman’s Club of Whitehall has named Ariana Hines as the Girl of the Month for February.
She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Aric Hines, of Whitehall.
She has achieved either high honor roll or honor roll for all marking periods.
Hines is a member of Student Council, choir, band and SERVE Club. She is the Class of 2018 vice president. She is part of the girls’ basketball team, track and field team and the Fellowship of Christian Athletes.
Katrina Ussia has been named Girl of the Month for January by Woman’s Club of Whitehall.
She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Larry Ussia, of Whitehall.
Ussia has achieved high honor roll for all marking periods.
She is a member of the choir, Spanish Club (vice president), Leo Club, Book Club and SERVE Club.
She belongs to National Honor Society, English National Honor Society, Mu Alpha Theta and Science National Honor Society.
Ussia has performed in Walt Disney World with the choir and has been a Girl Scout for 11 years.
Whitehall-Coplay Middle School won the Outstanding Career Pathway Award at the What’s So Cool About Manufacturing student video contest award ceremony Feb. 27.

Pennies for Patients, also known as Pasta for Pennies, at Zephyr Elementary School ends March 8. This is an annual fundraiser for Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.

Read Across America, a national program that promotes reading and adult involvement in the education of our students, will be celebrated tomorrow, March 2. March is the birthday month of Theodor Geisel, better known as Dr. Seuss. His books have led generations of children to learn the joy of reading.
With numerous construction plans in the works across its campus, Whitehall-Coplay School Board is preparing to prioritize projects at the upcoming March 12 meeting.
