Steckel Elementary students are STARS

Steckel Elementary School students are encouraged and recognized for their good deeds and positive attitudes.

Steckel held a schoolwide positive behavior assembly Sept. 27 in the gymnasium of Whitehall High School. This event was filled with encouraging words, relay races and memorable performances. Students and staff wore maroon, gold and white to show their Zephyr mascot pride.

Board accepts resignations

Club, extracurricular positions approved

At the Whitehall-Coplay School Board meeting Oct. 8, the board accepted the resignations of Wilder Domond, bus driver; Suzanne Hetten, Whitehall High School math league adviser; Deidra Herbert, WHS Key Club adviser; Eunice Moyer, bus driver; and Aubrey Miller, intensive learning support teacher at Steckel Elementary School.

New appointments included salaried substitute Valerie Chajnacki, nurse at WHS, and paraprofessional Josanah Martinez, life skills at WHS.

District News: Gockley collecting canned food items

Gockley Elementary School students are sharing a treat with their local community food bank. Continuing Oct. 25 and 26, bring in a canned food item.

There is a box at the school office to drop off the items. There will also be a box in the front of the main school entrance for families and friends to drop off any items when they come to watch the parades.

This is a great way for our students to learn the importance of helping and showing kindness to our neighbors and community.

WHS band marches to victory

Music in Motion home show set for Oct. 20

Whitehall-Coplay residents are accustomed to cheering the Whitehall High School sports teams to victory, and now, there’s a new medal winner in town.

The Whitehall Marching Zephyr Band (MZB) is making great strides in the marching band world. The unit competes in the Cavalcade of Bands circuit in the American Open Class category.
